How would you want to be treated?

When people with an opposite political point of view or religious point of view begin preaching or speaking about it, I do everything I possibly can to show respect.

When I was at the food center the other day a woman began preaching, speaking a very right-wing point of view in regards to Christianity I responded:

" I respect you as a human being and I respect your point of view but I don't quite see it that way and I'm not comfortable sharing my own views on the subject"

As an atheist I would like to ask you (especially Christians) to give me and any other atheists that you might meet the same due respect.

Isn't that what Jesus would do?

"A liberal atheist's prayer"

I "pray" that I will always be the sort of personality that EVERYONE no matter what their political or religious persuasion will feel comfortable talking with me.

today I had a very brief but enjoyable conversation with a very wealthy pastor's wife, who used to work for Dan Quayle!  We found the common ground and enjoyed each other's company a lot.

I think life is richest when we give people a chance, take time to listen, and find the common ground.
