is mountain town really a healthy city?

in  many ways mountain town seems like a healthy city.  However, if mountain town is such a healthy city then why is it that within 60 seconds of my leaving the house I hear men hacking that deep disgusting smokers hack?

Even inside of my apartment I frequently have to close the windows because of the men who are outside and hacking.

I went to Best Buy yesterday for help with my smartphone, and the clerk hacked and hacked and hacked for the entire 30 minutes!  What am I supposed to do? Demand that he find someone to help me who is not hacking?

ironically the public libraries here R significantly noisier then the local ER! I know this because I've been in the ER about 6 times since I've lived in mountain town.

Within 5 minutes of going into the public libraries you hear that high pitch squeal that babies and toddlers make and,the children will squeal like that for a half an hour or even longer because most parents  have no control over their children.

u already know I can't even concentrate on the smallest of tasks at the local library. I only know 1 other person who's An HSP like me (highly sensitive person. )  She wears Bose noise cancelling headphones on her ears, because sounds that don't even faze other people are painful to her ears. I know that's true for me regular sounds are very painful for my ears. It makes it tempting to not go out but that's not exactly an option!

"But i CAN'T block it out"

I had a Dr. tell me that he really gets it.  Not only am I already an hsp (highly sensitive person) but I'm also clairvoyant, so I simply cannot block it out.

He said life is particularly exhausting for people who are picking up everything!  Right now there is a little boy here in the library who is in my range of vision who is doing this head banging motion over and over.  There is a baby who is screaming in a very high pitched range.

On the bus today, a woman was "humming" in this high pitched squeal that sounded like a dying dog, at the same time a woman who looked like an indigineous Australia (koori perhaps) and is about 65; she was putting her finger way up into her nose for quite a while, then she took that same finger and started picking her lips.  aaaaaagggggggghhhhhhh

Yesterday while I was at the bus stop, a guy was standing leaning on a metal guardrail and overlooking a rocky cliff.  He purposely coughed that big smokers hack over and over again then he blew the spit balls down the hill.  Maybe every 2 seconds he blew another wad of spit.

One of the things that worries me about men and all the spitting is that I'll get hit by it because of our high wind problem.

So in light of this posting, I will share 2 songs.

Against the wind
don't spit into the wind

"At the mall"

Today is only the second time i've been in a mall in more then 2 years.  It was like most malls;   an overwhelming assault to the senses.

The entire mall smelled stale, of course there are no windows to open and it is probably illegal for them to keep the main doors open to air the place out!

I saw a store called "new york hots"  I asked the girl if this is the type of restaurant that ruins every dish by adding jalapenos?!  Her response was to give me the history of the store, the owners and the entire menue, as well as to say, "No it's only hot if you want it to be"

I found a seat in the food court, and immediately a man started pacing back and forth past my table talking loudly on his cell,  I moved my seat 2x.

I got my food and there were 2 custodians working right next to me, sweeping, changing out trash cans, washing down the same clean table over and over.  The one custodian was revolting to look at, as he hadn't washed his hair in months.  Gross.

I went to subway to get a cookie.  In the second that i was deciding, the manic loud salesman said "do you want macadamia nut?!"

"No, i want choc. chip"

"Do you want tea with that?"

"No"

I went into bath and body works to try on a sample.  I told them i wasn't planning on buying anything.  I told the salesperson that i thought B and B works  is "marketing genius!."  It is one of the most beautiful stores you ever laid eyes on.  She smiled and agreed that "the eye is drawn in from every direction"  Of course the music was very loud and that however is always a mistake in my book.

I put on a lotion then made them guess what it is.  They both guessed wrong!

I tried going in other stores, but never lasted long because of the deafening music.

I went into payless and I said to the ladies:  "I have an intellectual challenge for you!"  The one lady was older with a strong foreign accent, and the other was college age.

I asked "If you needed a good shoe, would you have to go to a name brand place like NIKE?  Is there really a big quality difference between payless and the expensive name brand places?

the young one shouted out "The difference is that our shoes are all a product of sweatshops!"  (needless to say, i love this girl!) "She embarassingly put her hand over her mouth, perhaps worried what the older lady would say.  But the older lady didn't even hear it!

The young girl turned out to be very good at what she does, (and i told her so) she recommended the brand "champion"

It took me forever and i told her that i hate to shop in part because my illness makes me so tired and painful to walk.

An older Nigerian customer asked me "I want your honest opinion on these shoes i'm trying on"

I said, "Well, the first word that comes to my mind is "conservative"  and i am a liberal!"  I pointed out that they don't look very supportive, so she chose something else.  She had a big smile on her face and said that "I really appreciate your honesty!"

"You will always get that from me!" I told her.

"No getting away from dogs"

I wonder if there is a society on earth where you can live free of dog barking, crying squealing, and free of loose dogs, or dogs on 12 foot leashes that jump on you, etc.

As perusual, if you want peace you are going to need a reliable car, so you can move far far away from noise or dogs, or souped up trucks that deafen you.

At my new place there is a dog next door that has a high pitch cry and bark and does this the entire time the owners are away.

In addition to that there was a small brown dog somebody tied under my bedrrom window that screamed and cried like a tortured child.  These things are against apt. rules, but i have so many other issues that need addressed first that i have not filed a complaint.

My cough is subsiding and i do not have as many migraines now that i am away from the smi roomate who smoked indoors.  (also a violation of lease)

I would still describe myself as seriously ill, the saving grace is that i can stay at home more oft if need be.

"Flood of Murder"

I'm watching alot of t.v. And I feel all emotions very deeply. I cry for joy, I cry for sadness I cry when the person on t.v. cries. (and mostly I watch non fiction shows) Just call me an HSP; a highly sensitive person!

Last night I watched a show that I laid awake all night thinking about. Did you see it? Called "Flood of Murder" I never got the opportunity to visit New Orleans pre-Katrina. Now, it's very similar to Baltimore.

I laid awake all night thinking about Devon-te (was that his name? he was only 25 when killed) and Helen Hill who was in her 30's. It's so painful to think about their lives being cut short. It's so painful when people who are doing so much good in the world have their lives stolen. Life is so much about luck. Helen had such a happy life. I feel so deeply sad for her husband.

Helen and her husband were friends in college (Harvard) and moved to New Orleans after college. About a year later they lost everything in Katrina. About a year after that despite Helen's mother's objections and H's husband's objections H. desperately wanted to go back to New Orleans to rebuild the city and her prior life. She was murdered in her own home, and the murderer tried to murder her husband but was unsuccessful.

Devon-te was an activist who grew up in New Orleans and was helping put music programs into schools as an alternative to violence. He was murdered just days before the instruments he ordered arrived at the school. He was so beautiful, the pictures of him were so beautiful.

I'm not an idealist any more. I'm not invested in Baltimore city. I want a good comfortable life in a safe rural or suburban area. I've lost enough years here. I'm so "lucky" to be alive, as I consider B-more to be just as dangerous as New Orleans, and I want out while I'm still in one piece.

"The Contest"

They call it "The Secret."

I've been using those sorts of principles for a long time.   The basic idea is the "law of attraction" thinking positively, and drawing positive people and positive things into your life. It's just one part of a spiritual principle that I've tried to live by in the last 10 years or so.

Recently,  I learned of a drawing/contest  near my house. I thought the drawing would take place that day, instead, only the entry took place on that Saturday. That's o.k. I walk in the doors of the bank, and there are about 6 employees of Jack FM in the lobby. There is a table with a hat on it. I ask one employee, "how do i enter?" He said, you just put your name in this hat. I told the Jack FM staff that I had been visualizing winning the money everyday. That I was visualizing what I was going to spend the money on, and visualize my name being called. One employee replied: "Oh, yes, that's from "the secret!" Reader, I thought I put my name in the hat for the contest I heard about on the radio (for 1k a month for the rest of your life) instead, the contest is for something else it turns out! The Jack staffer mentioned something about baseball, and I really had no idea what he was talking about! I walk further into the bank to sit down and wait for the name to be picked out of the hat.

Instead, a female teller, Jane, asks me: "Have you enrolled for the contest yet?" "Yes" I replied, the hat was in the lobby of the bank. She said: "That's for the baseball tickets! Don't you want to register to win the 1k a month?!" "Yes, I replied, that's what I thought the hat was for! The teller enrolls me for the 1k a month contest and promises to call me after the drawing. In the meantime, I sit and wait for the Jack FM drawing to happen.

12:00 rolls around and they pull the name out of the hat. "Elana Snyder, you won!" "Wow! I thought, and I don't even like baseball!" The entire Jack fm staff takes photos of me with them! I have no idea where the photos will be posted. Anyhow, I get a knowing wink from staff who heard me talking about the secret! Another man, hearing about my visualization "trick" yells out:

"PLEASE, WILL YOU VISUALIZE ME IN A FERRARI?!"
