I met with the director of the housing agency that placed my roomate with me. He talked to me as if i also had a phd. He addressed me as an intelligent equal. He told me that I am composed, positive, and express myself beautifully in writing.
And on top of that he said that he is completely convinced that indeed she, the roomate is very much endangering me and everyone else in the building.
He is working on it as fast as he can. So, I am in a good place mentally today.

"Looking back at Social Work School"
And I think it's darn interesting, because of the direction my life took. I was given this packet while working as a Homelessness Prevention Caseworker; 1.5 years before falling into "my own" never ending cycle of homelessness.
Initially, in the color black, I will type up the directory itself, as I received it in 1992. Manual updates that I made in my own handwriting over the years, I will include in different coloration to make it easier to distinguish.
A NATIONAL DIRECTORY OF STATEWIDE HOMELESS, HOUSING AND RURAL HOUSING COALITIONS AS WELL AS STATE GOV'T CONTACTS
"author's" note: now obviously in black you will not see websites or email addresses as I received this directory pre:internet. But certainly you'll have enough basic tools to look up the internet updates yourself if you see something particularly interesting!

In 1/94 I ended up using this directory to try to break the cycle of homelessness that I had fallen into. It obviously did not work! But i saved it anyway!
So as to prevent my "fingers from falling off" from all of the typing; I am going to include the states of particular interest to me because of their climate or politics or progressive reputation!

So You get the picture. Also in my original packet, I've got lots of handwritten notes regarding the status of my own HUD application. I called in 03 to the Baltimore Hud Office to see where I fell on the wait. list. I was told that my name had been pulled "off the wait list due to returned mail"
Imagine all of the thousands of people whose names get dropped because they were homeless and no one could reach them. I don't understand why HUD, food stamps, etc. don't communicate via email. Because homeless people can maintain an email account for free at the library and therefore won't get lost in the shuffle.

"The California Wildfires"
It's been really heartbreaking to watch this on t.v., read about it in the newspaper, and listen to the stories on n.p.r. Ironically, about a month ago, I was sitting on the front porch of my favorite bookstore and talking with my acquaintance Jack. I told him that CA is my dream place to live, but with global warming, each region has it's own sets of challenges and we can't really count on a normal climate anywhere, not even San Diego.
The barista, from Southern CA interrupted and said: "I can assure you it will be many years before CA or anyplace sees the effects of global warming" This girl has a real difficult personality; if you say the sky is blue, she will say no it isn't it's orange. I said nothing in return as I didn't want to argue with her. and I thought: "She hasn't seen the documentary: "An Inconvenient Truth."
Perhaps many Americans won't make the connection between the wildfires and global warming, but according to Gore, there is a definite connection. yet two of the fires are being investigated as arson.
Just like with Katrina, I was hoping to get involved with this disaster too, by providing emergency counseling, a listening ear, and help for folks looking to get connected to resources. Hmmmm. Perhaps I'll advertise on Craig's List. I'd love to help. If anyone knows what homelessness is like, it's definitely me!
Do you know anyone affected by the evacuation? Ellen Degeneres has her dad and stepmom staying with her, they are evacuees, however she hasn't said anything about them losing their home, so I hope for the best..........................
